The perfect archery hunt. Why? Because your target animal has to be within 2030 yards anyway due to weather. Davis Parks Sportsman Spotlight. We caught outfitter Mike Jenkins of Up Front Outfitters XCOM out on a Roosevelt Elk Hunt in a western corridor of Oregon. He had his client positioned in a tree stand, and so he took the call from me while a client waited for a massive bull to show up that Mike had seen on one of his trail cams. Speaker2: The visibility 30 yards with Rocky Mountain elk. You can see a lot of times hundreds of yards and blast them and spot them. Roosevelt You usually don't have that option unless you catch them in a clear cut, much more challenging species. So your client. Speaker1: That's up in the tree, it it'd be a shot. That would be 30 yards max. Speaker2: Yeah, yeah. But we're about 22 yards from the tree, which is about all the visibility. I found a wallow down along a creek that has been pretty active, so that's about the best opportunity to get him sitting up over that wall low and hope that ball comes back in. Speaker1: How much pressure are wolves putting on these animals? Speaker2: Fortunately for us, where we're at right now, we have no wolves in our area, so we don't have to worry about the wolves, at least not yet. And when they do get here, we're going to be in some serious trouble, though, because it's so thick and brushy. I mean, once they get here, they're never going to get rid of them. Speaker1: So many elements to consider when you're hunting them. That's why it's great to have an outfitter.
