Hunter's Philosophy

Whether you are hunting for bear, elk, mulies, birds or rabbits, it really doesn’t matter. There is a philosophy which I certainly endorse and that is, to be quite specific, eat what you kill. It's a great philosophy in business, it's a great philosophy out in the field. Well it should be no surprise that such a philosophy is endorsed and preached by long time hunting and fishing guide, Eddie Sanchez, with whom I met in a hunting tent at 9500 feet at Winter Hawk outfitters in the Flat Tops Wilderness and White River National Forest of Colorado. “Part of hunting, as most hunters are is harvesting the meat and utilizing that for home. We enjoy it. We don’t have to have it, you can go to a grocery store and buy meat but it is not the same. We enjoy the meat of what we harvest and I know a lot of people hunt and they do not care about it but I do not agree with that. I think if you are going to kill an animal, you need to respect that animal and part of the respect is to utilize every part of it as it should be and that is why that animal was put on this earth was for us to be able to eat. And again, I know that is not what we have to do because you can go to the grocery store but it is not the same. Remember, the animals at the grocery store are also giving their lives for us to eat.”
