The value of Georgia production of major field crops was estimated at $2.61 billion in 2021, an increase of 20% from 2020, according to the Crop Values Report released by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The leading crop production value for Georgia was cotton at $937.4 million in 2021, up from $761.8 million in 2020, an increase of 23%.

There are three weeks left in Alabama’s 2022 legislative session. One bill moving forward could, according to proponents, provide relief to the labor shortage in the trucking industry. House Bill 368 would increase the weight limits of timber trucks by 10%. Depending on the vehicle, this could be as much as 10,000 pounds.

Florida Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers received top honors for donating 30.5 million pounds of fresh produce and other foods to assist hungry Floridians as part of American Farm Bureau Federation’s “Harvest for All” program in 2021. Now in its 20th year, Harvest for All is spearheaded by members of Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers program to put food on the table for those in need.
