Turning Poop to Profit

Disposal of livestock manure has been a long-time challenge for the agriculture world… but Wastefuel CEO Trevor Neilson says farmers could take that stinky problem… and turn it into an opportunity.

“Farmers can drive brand new streams of revenue that have never existed before. There are plenty of people that do bio gas, but we take it also to methanol. Which is a more valuable product in many ways, and we think is a big part of the future of the way the agriculture community can work with companies like Maersk who desperately need these fuels.”

Neilson says Wastefuel’s biggest investors… are also their biggest clients.

“Our biggest investor is Maersk, the world’s biggest shipping company. Maersk is in the process of transitioning their entire fleet to green methanol. Which burns at a dramatic reduction in carbon dioxide, nitrous oxides, sulfuric oxide, other greenhouse gasses.”

“The thing that really makes us unique is our biggest investors are also our off takers, they’re the ones buying the fuel.”

Nielson says profit isn’t the only advantage of repurposing agriculture waste…

“Cow manure, other forms of agricultural waste, can actually be a big part of addressing the climate crisis.”
