For California AG today, I'm Mike Stephens. We conclude with Courtney Romano. Registered dietitian and health advisor to the California Table Grape Commission, she concludes, by describing more important benefits for having grapes in our diet

Grapes because of their makeup. You know, we are finding that there is a lot of potential health benefits. Heart health is another area. It's very this baseline good things that grapes may help with the heart relaxing blood vessels so that you have good blood flow and function. Skin health is another area that is emerging where we have found that well. A recent study showed that grapes were able to help increase resistance to sunburn and reduced markers of UV damage at the cellular level. And again, you know, more research needs to be done, but it's just really exciting. And the fact I think it just goes to show the fact that, you know, a whole food like grapes with all these beneficial phytonutrients, they work in many different ways. And the California grape season, however, is your domestic grapes grown right there? You know, California grows 99 percent of the commercially available grapes, and our season is between May and January. So a nice long season that consumers can enjoy all through the late spring, summer and fall and early winter.
