It’s time for your Farm of the Future Report. I’m Tim Hammerich.

Leading precision agriculture company Semios recently announced they would be acquiring farm management software company Agworld. This was a big deal considering the size of Agworld’s customer base that were using the platform. But what do Agworld customers think? John Silvera, for one, is optimistic about the opportunities this might bring his crop consulting business and the farmers he works with.

Silvera… “Ultimately, I think it's going to be a good deal for Agworld and the customers. Because Semios is already in this market and they have a good book of business. They have a product for navel orangeworm - they have puffers - that allow for mating disruption and don't allow the navel orangeworm to begin in a orchard block. That is a product that I'm interested in for the tree crops. So I think there might be some synergy there down the road to kind of use both platforms and end up integrating them into the Agworld, and I think more products will come down the road in the future.”

As the ag technology industry matures and consolidates, many more of these deals will be announced. It’s important to communicate with your technology provider to understand their financial situation and long term vision.
