As most in-person cooperative extension events were cancelled this past year due to the pandemic, some innovative outreach initiatives have started as a result. One of which is a podcast discussing California water issues featuring co-hosts and UC Ag and Natural Resources professionals Mallika Nocco, Sam Sandoval, and Faith Kearns who says they hope to capture the breadth and diversity of issues surrounding water in the state.

Kearns… “We're trying to balance a lot of different things. One of which is, you know, talking with our colleagues at UC, talking with our colleagues particularly in cooperative extension. But also trying to create a larger conversation that includes folks working in many different realms. And I hope that we get to do it for many seasons because we've tried to focus a lot on just the diversity of California from the geography to the people, to the kinds of water. And so hopefully you see that reflected in the lineup of guests, as we're just trying to think, how do we talk about what's happening in Modoc County and in the Imperial Valley, right? We're really looking at it from the perspective of how would we create something where people really get a sense of how diverse the issues are across the state.”

The show is called the Water Talk Podcast, and you can find it on any podcast player on on their website: WaterTalkPodcast.com.
