Advocating for the California Walnut industry's future success trade in 2021 and it's one of the topics to be discussed at the virtual 2021 Industry Conference by the California Walnut Board and Commission. It’s two half days, Tuesday, March 2nd, Wednesday, March 3rd.

Jennifer Williams is Marketing Director, Domestic Advertising with the California Walnut board. She noted that topic on trade is an important one for all growers.

“Michelle Connelly, our CEO and Executive Director will be moderating that session. And it's all about how we work as the commission, mostly, to work with the various partners in government, to make sure that we are advocating for the California Walnut industry and all of those things that go on in government on different trade relations,” explained Williams.

It’s sure to be fresh on everyone's mind with the trade issues, during the last administration.

“A lot of people are aware that in recent years we've had some trade challenges with China, India, Turkey, some of our leading export as well as sometimes things come up with the EU on regulations,” Williams said. “So, it's all about negotiating on behalf of California walnuts and making sure that we're represented at the table when it comes to some of these negotiations.”

Again, the virtual conference is next week, March 2, and 3. You must register. You can do it online at walnuts.org and click on the Walnut Industry tab.
