Producers of eligible commodities have just a little over a month left to apply for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program or CFAP 2. Even those that applied under the first CFAP will need to apply again. The eligible commodities have expanded for CFAP 2 and the response has been strong with over 443,000 applications approved totaling over $7.6 billion. Here is FSA Administrator Richard Fordyce.

Fordyce… “CFAP2 sign up began on September 21st and it will run through December 11th. So, you know, certainly would encourage folks that have not applied for CFAP2 and they are producers of eligible commodities. They need to contact their local farm service agency office, or go to the website farmers.gov/CFPA to apply. And it's a pretty simple, pretty straightforward application. So we don't think folks will have it, you know, a lot of issues or a lot of problems with applying. And if they do have questions, certainly if they can't answer them based on the resources on the website, you know, we would invite them to contact their local Farm Service Agency office to get those questions answered.”

Fordyce went on to clarify that this funding is not a loan like some of the other assistance programs, but a payment granted to qualified applicants. Again that deadline to apply is December 11th. Be sure to visit the website www.Farmers.gov/CFAP or contact your local FSA office.
