Focus under fire. I have one of THE funniest stories and I guess you would just have to know my longtime ESPN and Outdoor Channel hunting and fishing partner, Wayne Pearson. When Wayne is out in the field and gets on something, he is on it like the finest hunting dog ever. He is focused and won’t be distracted under any circumstances as witnessed by outdoor videographer Gilbert Herndon on a turkey hunt with Wayne. One time we were in Kansas and we were hunting with these guys and Wayne was in front of me and I am behind him with the camera and these turkeys were out in front of us. It was early in the morning and our guide, I think his name was Chad, was backed up under a Cedar tree right behind me. I am rolling and taping these turkeys with Wayne out in front in the shot and he is calling them. I hear this commotion behind us and he says Oh XXXX and he’s raising hell right behind us and I look around and Wayne looks around and says what’s wrong buddy and Chad says a bobcat just jumped on me. I guess a bobcat had snuck up behind him and thought he was a turkey right there at the tree and he just jumped around and tried to bite him in the arm but Chad just punched him in the face and Wayne looks around and the 1st thing Wayne says is be quiet buddy we have turkeys out here. (laughter) It was actually on tape and you could hear it.
