Interesting view of conservation

An interesting way to look at conservation. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service announced that they are seeking applications for Conservation Innovation Grants so I called spokesperson Mindi Rambo to ask about the program. Mindi started to explain that if the innovative ideas were well grounded they might land up on the ground to which I replied… So well-grounded ideas put into the ground. Mm hmm. That's a double positive.

“We would hope so, because, of course, as you know, we began as the soil conservation service. And so the ground is the foundation for all that we do. And soil and its health is what drives us, because healthy soil means cleaner water. Cleaner water means healthier wildlife. Healthier wildlife means more recreational opportunities, whether that's taking photographs, hunting, fishing or just having an enjoyable day of birdwatching.” It's amazing that the more you learn about healthy soil, the more you realize how deeply it is connected to human health and happiness, as well as animal health and happiness. Yes.”

And from the perspective of sportsmen, that would include all fish and wildlife.
