One of industry leaders is Nasser Dean, an Industry Affairs lead for Bayer Crop Science. “So I have agreed to be a mentor to someone selected in the Almond Leadership class of 2020. I also have the pleasure to serve as Chairman of the California FFA foundation, and so it nicely ties in to what I feel is important to help develop the next generation of leaders in the agriculture industry” Dean noted.

“Whether it's working with high school students in FFA or those who are just coming out of the universities interested and pursuing important careers within the almond industry,” he said.

Dean explains the importance of the almond industry leadership program, which is sponsored by Bayer Crop Science. “I think it gives us an opportunity to showcase what modern agricultural looks like with innovation technology,” noted Dean. “It gives us an opportunity to show and demonstrate some of the exciting things that we're working on that as future leaders of the almond industry, I think they would be willing to embrace.”

“We need to keep an open mind as to what it is going to take to help feed billions of more people than we have right now. It's going to take more science, more innovation, and more technology,” explained Dean.
