Perdue Farms is the parent company of Perdue Foods and Perdue AgriBusiness. They are a major chicken, turkey, and pork processing company, but also offer other meats to consumers.
You may be familiar with many of the Organic Products they offer... which is something they continue to push and even advertise.
Perdue Farms is in the news for two reasons this week.
First, Perdue Farms launched a new e-commerce website that will offer a selection of its family of brands for sale directly to consumers at PerdueFarms.com. They say in a press release, nearly half or more of all shoppers buy perishables such as meat, produce and dairy items online. They plan to offer more online as time and demand increases.
Perdue Farms also announced they will start packaging some of its meat products in a more earth-friendly way with compostable foam made of cornstarch that disintegrates under running water.
The company said the new packaging is part of its commitment to a 30% reduction by 2022 in greenhouse gas emissions per pound of its product.
