Our Land Our Voice Update

The Our Land Our Voice movement was founded by the Owhyee Basin Stewardship Coalition to bring awareness to the possible national monument designation of the Owyhee Canyonlands — 2.5 million acres located in Southeastern Oregon’s Malheur County.
Elias Eiguren, a Jordan Valley Rancher and treasurer of the Owhyee Basin Stewardship Coalition gives us an update of their recent activities to bring more awareness to this issue
Eiguren: “We have really amped up our campaign. We’ve been reaching out the last couple of weeks to all folks across the state of Oregon — be they Democratic, Republican or Independent— with a commercial on MSNBC in the Portland-metro area during the Democratic National Convention. We see this issue affecting all Americans. We want to reach out to folks to have them continue signing our petition at ourlandourvoice.com and if they are willing to donate to our campaign to stop the national monument designation in southern Malheur county, please do so.”
Regardless of where you live, it does affect you. He continues
Eiguren: “We’re discussing public lands that belong to all Americans. So folks who live outside of state of Oregon. It will affect their ability to excess these lands and utilize them the same as anybody who livest in the area like I do. These national monument situations are happening all over the United States. President Obama has already designated several during his term in office, and has plans to do more before he exits, from what we understand. So folks need to be aware of this issue.”
If you aren’t one of the more than 7,000 that have already signed the petition, please do so at www.ourlandourvoice.com.
