Weekly Cattle Update
This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for July 8th. Cattle making a solid comeback in the early 3rd QT. Here's Gregg Sanders with more on the weekly USDA cattle update.
Sanders "Thank you and good morning everyone, here's the national slaughter cattle review for Thursday, July 7th 2016. On Thursday trading was limited in the Texas Panhandle in the western Corn belt. A few early live sales sold at $1.20 in both regions and a few early dress sales sold at $1.91 in the western Corn Belt. In Nebraska Thursday trading was mostly inactive on very light demand. In Kansas and Colorado trading was at a standstill, not enough sales for a full market trend in any major feeding region."
Chicago July Wheat prices closed last week up 8 ¾, at 421 ¾. July corn ended Friday up 14 ¼, at 349. Portland prices for soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein for July were unch to up 17, ranging from 4-75 to 5-20. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for July were up 25 to 19, ranging from 4-91 ¼ to 5-01 ¼. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for July were up 5 ¼, ranging from 5-76 to 5-91. Aug Live Cattle closed the week up 42 ½ cents, at 112.12 ½. Aug Feeder cattle were dn 17 ½ cents, at 143.25. July class III milk was dn 9 cents at 15-21.
