App Provides More than 200 Meat Cuts and Information

I admit, I’m a bit of an app junky. I love apps that make life easier and bring me information in a quick and effective way. If you have friends who want more information on cuts of meat and how best to cook them — have I got the app for you. Field Reporter Greg Martin shares more details.
Martin: “The app Nose to Tail provides a convenient encyclopedia of animals cuts with support for more than 200 cuts of meat from four different animals — cows, pigs, lambs and chickens. Each cut includes in-depth detail about the anatomy, recommended preparation, history, common dishes as well as fun facts. It has a comprehensive list of cuts that include uncommon parts of the animal that are often overlooked, including offal.”
You can test drive the app by downloading the beef portion of the Nose to Tail app — in order to unlock the other three species it costs an additional $2.99. But you can try the sample beef at no cost and see what you think.
Sometimes I struggle to remember the different names of cuts — this app really helps with that. Also if you are shopping in the supermarket and a particular cut is on sale — that perhaps you aren’t familiar with — you can use the app to see suggestions on how best to cook that cut.
With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner — here is a fun fact straight from the app. Corned beef comes from a beef brisket. Did you know that the brisket muscles support about 60 percent to the body weight of the animal? That requires a significant amount of connective tissue which gives the brisket a signature texture when cooked correctly.
