Cattleman's Meeting

Cattleman's Meeting

Cattleman's Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with Washington Ag Today.

Next week the cattle industry in Washington State will be coming together to look at issues and to kick their heels up. Jack Field, Executive Vice-President of the Washington Cattleman's Association says there is a lot on the bill.

FIELD: We've got a pretty good line up of some good speakers and obviously quite a few topics out there that are very timely like a discussion on a potential increase of the states beef commission. That in-state 50 cents that we collect. There's been quite a bit of discussion expressing a great deal of interest in increasing that so

The meeting will run next Wednesday through Saturday at the Suncadia Resort and Lodge in Cle Elum.

FIELD: We've got an update from Reed Hopper with Pacific Legal Foundation. he is the attorney that has put the case together for the Washington Cattleman's Association that we are opposing the EPA's Water's of the U.S. rule in the 6th Circuit right now so that's a case that hopefully going to be heard and one that will have an opportunity to voice everybody's concerns and opposition to that EPA rule.

Field says there are a great many topics to discuss but time for some fun as well.

FIELD: And probably one of the most important things we're hoping the folks have a good opportunity to connect with old friends and make some new ones and enjoy a couple of days at Suncadia.

And that's Washington Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
