Early Bird Registration & Proposed Clean Air Changes

Early Bird Registration & Proposed Clean Air Changes

Early Bird Registration & Proposed Clean Air Changes. I'm Greg Martin with Washington Ag Today.

Under the federal Clean Air Act, Washington is required to have an air operating permit program for the largest sources of air pollution in the state. Businesses and industries that produce 100 tons or more of air pollution a year are required to obtain an air operating permit. The Washington Department of Ecology is proposing several changes to the rule governing the state's air operating permit. The public will have the opportunity to learn about the proposal and weigh in until Sept. 18. The proposed changes modify how Ecology's fees are calculated and adds a public review process of the calculations; update requirements for audits; and clarify how federal rules apply to businesses.

The Tilth Producers 2015 Annual Conference is around the corner, returning to Eastern Washington with three full days of quality education and networking opportunities. They currently have their Early Bird Registration open according to Kate Nagle-Caraluzzo, Member Services Coordinator.

NAGLE-CARLUZZO: Our Early Bird registration saves $20. If you are a member of Tilth Producers and you take advantage of our Early Bird you also have membership all year long so that means you can save on all Tilth Producers events. The conference is great. We offer 25 workshops and they range from everything; on marketing livestock to organic practices and production. Plus this year we are partnering with the Spokane County Conservation District to run their "Farm-A-Palouse-A".

Register on their site at TilthProducers.org.

And that's Washington Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
