Regular correspondent Josh Mills has a wonderful tool for fishermen. “One of the more interesting things that happens when you are out flyfishing, if you are dragging your own boat or raft and you get to the put – in, how are you going to get your truck to the take – out? Most of the time fly shops do a really good job or some local business or local resident but a lot of times fishermen are coming in from another area, it’s hard to get things arranged ahead of time, it’s hard to know you’re dealing with a system that seems a little bit archaic. Well, to insert a little bit of technology and ingenuity from a friend of mine and you have a new web based app system called Shuttle Snap and you can find it at shuttlesnap.com It is an easy five step process that allows you to go online, check the rivers that you want to go to, what float you want and a lot of these are permanently defined floats that are listed on the rivers that they service and then you get to choose your provider and then insert any notes, details anything like that. So when you show up to the river a lot of times you don’t even have two go to the shop. You can go right to the river and your shuttle is going to be verified and down there when your boat gets to the takeout. Brett Sing and his team have put together a wonderful app and right now it is mostly Montana-based but soon to be scaled to other states. So if you are interested in floating a lot of rivers in Montana right now and want to experience a pretty slick system, go to shuttlesnap.com and check out the rivers that they service.
