Wheat Markets Mixed -- Either Side of Unchanged

Wheat Markets Mixed -- Either Side of Unchanged

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for May 12, 2015.

Grain and soybean bids opened the week mixed ahead of the USDA supply and demand report to be released today. More rain over the weekend pressured the markets. From the floor of the CME Group Jack Scoville shares his observations of Monday’s markets.
Scoville: “It’s been a very quiet market in the grain room here today with most people willing to wait for the crop progress reports tonight and of course the monthly supply and demand updates tomorrow along with the wheat production estimates tomorrow before making any big moves. Overall speculators, producers, users really choosing to do too much and as a result probably as narrow a range day as we’ve seen in quite a while in all of these markets.”
Chicago July Wheat ended Monday down a half a cent at 4-81. July corn ended the day down 2 and 1/2 cents at 3-60 and 1/2.
Portland prices for soft white wheat and white club wheat of ordinary protein were mixed down 10 and 1/2 cents to up a nickel at mostly 5-96. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 1 to 2 cents at mostly 6-09 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 3 cents at mostly 7-37.
June live cattle were down $1.25 on Monday at 150.25. August Feeder cattle were down 20 cents at 217.42 and half. June class III milk was down 31 cents at 17-05.
