Crop Insurance Deadline

Crop Insurance Deadline

Crop Insurance Deadline. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Have you filled out your AD-1026 form yet? The deadline is rapidly approaching. USDA/Risk Management Agency Risk Management Specialist, Jo Lynne Seufer

explains.

SEUFER: USDA's Risk Management Agency really wants to remind producers that they need to have their Highly Erodible Conservation and Wetland Conservation Certification form which is an AD-1026 on file at their local USDA service center by June 1. That is to ensure that they are in compliance with the 2014 Farm Bill which required all producers to have the AD-1026 on file to remain eligible for any crop insurance premium support.

Nursery, fruit and vegetable producers or anyone who may be new to crop insurance need to make sure this form is filled out and on file. It's not a new form and has been around since the 1985 Farm Bill.

SEUFER: We encourage producers to visit their USDA service centers as Farm Service Agency will be able to service and provide them the direction they need in order to comply with the AD-1026.

Producers who file their form by the deadline will be eligible for federal crop insurance premium support during the 2016 reinsurance year, which begins July, 1, 2015. Producers can use the RMA Cost Estimator to get a premium amount estimate of their insurance needs online.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
