Grain Prices End Monday Lower

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for April 7, 2015.
The week begins with lower prices across the board in the grain futures on Monday. From the floor of the CME Group, Scott Shellady shares his observations of Monday’s markets.
Shellady: “As the market opened up we saw some decent weakness on weather-related news in the wheat market which drug other things lower. We did see some selling of the wheat to buy some corn — corn was a little bit buoyed. Beans and wheat was off 7 and 1/2 to 7 and 3/4 cents today and corn was off by 1, 1 and 1/2 to 2 cents today. That is the type of trade we had here today. When Mondays are typically very low volumes — today was Monday and it didn’t disappoint — very low volumes and a lot of white noise out there.”
Chicago July Wheat ended Monday down 8 and 1/2 cents at 5-27 and 3/4. July corn ended the day down 1 and 1/2 cents at 3-85.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were down 8 and 1/2 to 61 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-67 and 3/4. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were down 8 and 1/2 to 31 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-87 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 10 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-86. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 5 and 3/4 at mostly 8-99 and 3/4.
June live cattle were down $1.62 and half on Monday at 151-75. May Feeder cattle were down 57 and half cents at 216-87 and half. May class III milk was up 8 cents at 15-65.
