Celebrating National Ag Day

Tomorrow is National Ag Day — a day to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture. Here is some of the region’s activities happening later this week.
For Ag Day at the Capitol in Denver tomorrow, the Colorado Ag Council will again be holding the Farm-to-Table Cook-off, featuring top chefs from Colorado, partnered with state legislators and producers, to serve up delicious and creative dishes. Their goal this year —in addition to promoting agriculture — is to raise $100,000 for the Food Bank of the Rockies
Colorado Ag Council Event Chair David Collie shares
Collie: “We’re able to get different walks of life to be involved in this event. The event is really about showcasing Colorado agriculture and what Colorado agriculture does for the Food Bank and Coloradans across the state.”
In Washington, there will a Washington Grown Agricultural Fair in Olympia on the Capitol’s grounds this Thursday. Washington Farmers and Ranchers Executive Director Karla Salp shares more details about the event.
Salp: “It is mostly the commodities that are coming together and actually having booths. But anyone is actually welcome to come and have a booth, share what you do with agriculture. It is really a positive effort for positive image for agriculture in Olympia. The target audience is legislators and their aids as well as other people who are trying to influence legislations— so these are people who are socially engaged.”
