Dr. Deborah Aaron at University of Kentucky and President of the American Society of Animal Science tells us all in no uncertain terms that the data support the notion that consuming products from livestock fed with genetically engineered feed is safe. "All of the data that are currently out there relative to the use of genetically engineered feed crops and that was in our Journal of Animal Science and it was a review that scientists did that looked at data from the beginning of 1983 and going all the way up through 2011 and if you go back to the dates on that, 1983 was really about 13 years before GE crops were introduced through 2011 and in 2011 the GE seed use was about 90%. I think today figures estimate that 95% of all the livestock we produce are fed feeds from genetically engineered crops, the feeds themselves are not genetically engineered. If you look at all of the data that they have, it is over 100 million animals used in all of the studies that were compiled and reviewed in these scientific articles and there's just no evidence that those animals perform any differently than animals fed feeds from non-genetically engineered crops. That's pretty substantial information that is out there.
