Columbia Sea Lions

Last week we talked with Rob Maxey about the fact that sea lions have gotten extremely bold. Well the story continues from this expert outdoorsman who I could listen to for hours. "The other place where it is really bad is that Oregon city below the falls. In the spring time when the Springer's are running it is really bad. I know of two people that got dragged overboard last year while they were springer fishing. When this happens, I can give you some real-time updates about exactly what happened and people's names on this. You net a fish and that sea lion grabs it through the net, everything is going overboard. If you are tangled in the net you are going too. I have heard that they are aggressive enough to attack humans in the water. Oh yes. I believe they have had some incidents already because the Astoria docks in the East mooring basin this year they had the sea lions take over some of the docks and they were crawling inside boats. I don't believe you can legally shoot them off of your property but there have been incidents where they were aggressive towards people inside boats. What body of water is this where you are fishing where the sea lions are? Mainly the Columbia River all the way from Astoria to Bonneville has got sea lions and they are thick. We've had problems as far as 30 miles offshore halibut fishing."
