Benefits of Remote Management For Mechanized Irrigation

Welcome to the Irrigation Minute brought to you by Reinke. Today we are talking with Reinke Director of Regional Sales Neil Lunzmann about the benefits of remote technology for mechanized irrigation systems.
Lunzmann: “Why producers are looking at remote management technology now is partyly because the technology has changed. It has become more reliable, a little less costly. One of the bigger issues is simply because that the producers have required this — labor is harder to find. Many producers are farming more and more acres and in a lot of cases they are further away from their home base. Even the fuel costs have changed the dynamics of looking at remote management. Producers can save not only labor but the time it takes to go out and check a system to find out that it is on when all they really need to do is to check their computer to see if it is on or no it is not and it needs some attention.”
Lunzmann adds that the technology can be used by whatever means the producer wants to use —whether it is a computer, laptop, or cell phone.
Lunzmann: “At Reinke, we offer it is radio technology. We offer it as cell phone technology, through satellite radios. It can be reported to cell phone, landline, computer or your smart phone.”
