Down Day Across the Grains

Down Day Across the Grains

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for November 5, 2014.
Tuesday was a down day across the board in the grain markets. From the floor of the CME Group, Joe Vaclavik shares his observations of Tuesday’s markets.
Vaclavik: “Grain markets lower across the board here in Chicago on Tuesday. A lower trade in the corn market. A lower trade in soybean market and also a lower trade in the wheat market. Following lower closes also on Monday as well. Now fundamentally here we are making big strides in terms of harvest progress. We’re kind of back towards the averages in soybeans and we are nearing back towards the averages in corn. So farmers here in the United States have made some big strides here in the last 7 to 10 days which have provided more favorable and drier weather.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Tuesday down 7 and 3/4 cents at 5-30 and 1/2. December corn ended the day down 9 cents at 3-64 and 1/2.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 7 and 1/2 to 7 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-85 and 3/4. White club wheat prices were down 7 and 3/4 cents at mostly 9-31 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 7 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-43 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 8 cents at mostly 9-14.
