Phoenix Festival to Help Community After Fire Disaster

Phoenix Festival to Help Community After Fire Disaster

In the tradition of of rural communities making lemonade out of lemons — on October 18th Central Washington’s Methow Valley will celebrate the Phoenix Festival which is a benefit event for relief funds from this summer’s Carlton Complex wildfire. TwispWorks Executive Director Amy Stork shares how people can find more information about festival details.
Stork: “Our website at twispworks.org is a great resource to learn the specifics of who is coming and performing on stage. Throughout the festival there will be vendors and artists who have set up interactive experience for everyone — from children to adults — to express themselves around what happened this summer and also to hear and see other people’s expression. So there will be some sculpture, some painting, some photography, some interactive mural development. It is really a really broad range of activities throughout the day.”
Stork says 100 percent of the ticket price will go towards long term recovery efforts for the area. She adds if you aren’t able to attend but would like to support the fundraising effort.
Stork: “Even if you are not able to come to the festival, if you go to our website and click on that buy tickets link. You’ll see the opportunity to purchase a scholarship ticket which the proceeds will still go to the recovery effort and then someone who can’t afford to go to the festival perhaps someone who lost their home or was impacted by the fires will get a free ticket to the festival. So even if you can go, you can still make a big contribution by buying a scholarship ticket.”
