Wolf Kill Called Off

Idaho Fish and Game officials say they're calling off their intention to send a professional hunter into the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness to kill wolves until at least November 2015. I called "the Wolf lady" Suzanne Stone for her comments. "Have you got a minute to talk to me? Only a minute because I have an appointment but I have three minutes so go for it. Idaho calls off the guy to go up into the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness to kill wolves. Awesome. The guy had killed nine wolves and he was aiming for two whole packs and my understanding is that he had killed some of the members from each of the two packs. His purpose was to go in and kill more and Idaho had a plan to go in and continue to eliminate 60% of the wolves in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area. They were planning to kill 50 to 60 more wolves on top of the ones they had already killed. Stopping this now is critical. The Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area is supposed to be one of the wildest places in the country and it is not wild if you do not have all of the elements that make it so. The wolf is certainly one of the components in the wilderness that truly makes it wild. We are thrilled here that wolves are going to be protected at least for the next year and we hope to make it permanent.
