A trail ride with the governor. One of the things you have to absolutely love about being out West is the fact that we allow ourselves, while doing business, to get out of a stuffy office and enjoy the splendor of the mountains in Idaho. I just happened to call Wyatt Prescott of the Idaho Cattle Association to congratulate him on the birth of his first child. It was a son and he has named him Augustus, (Gus) Prescott. Well, I found out that Wyatt was accompanying Gov. Otter on the 12th Annual Governor’s Trail Ride which was held at the base of the Sawtooth Mountains in beautiful Stanley, Idaho. One thing you can say about Gov. Otter is that he is definitely not all hat and no cattle. He’s a real cowboy. I talked briefly with Michelle Johnson the ICA’s administrative assistant: “ Their campsite is Smiley Creek so they are writing in the Sawtooth Mountains. It is an opportunity to discuss pertinent issues to the cattle industry. There are state and federal officials from land management agencies and wildlife agencies as well as local ranchers. Is Wyatt a competent horsemen and able to travel along without danger? I am assuming so. I think I have seen photos of him on a horse before. And he was actually up right? Yes. Is the governor actually on this? Yes he is there.
