Wheat Ends Week on Bullish Note Friday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for June 9, 2014.

The grains had a bullish reversal for the week’s end on Friday with both wheat and corn up on the day. With an update on the Pacific Northwest Cattle markets, USDA Market Reporter Robert Eaton shares
Eaton: “Feeder cattle compared to last week are generally steady to lower yet prices remain strong. Six hundred to 700 pound feeders are running as high as $203 while. 850 to 900 pounds are up to $178. Trade was slow to moderate with light demand. Producers remain bullish for fall contracting of calves and yearlings.”
Chicago September Wheat ended Friday up 12 and 1/2 cents at 6-30 and 1/4. September corn ended the day up 12 cents at 4-56 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were up 8 and 1/4 to 12 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-23 and 3/4. White club wheat prices were up 8 and 1/4 to 12 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-68 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 21 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-12 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 18 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-43 and 1/4.
August live cattle were down 2 and half cents on Friday at 141-30. August Feeder cattle up 70 cents at 200-52 and half. July class III milk was down 32 cents at 20-38.
