I called Sportsman's Warehouse fishing associate Rob Lengkeek and posed a scenario. Listen. "Fishing department, this is Rob, how can I help, Bud? Rob? Do you know a lot about flyfishing? Well I have been doing it for over 20 years. Let's say that I am interested in learning how to fly fish, don't know anything about it. I come in and I say Rob, please set me up with what I need. What I would do is as far as equipment goes I would be looking at either the Path combo or the Crosswater combo and if I'm not mistaken the Path is $179 and the Crosswater is $139. With the Path you go up to a lifetime warranty so that's best in case you end up breaking part of the rod. It kind of depends upon the budget. When you say these combos, is that soup to nuts or is that just a rod or what? That is a rod, reel, line and one thing I really like about the combos is they feature real mainstream fly line which has a really nice forward taper for beginners to learn how to load and present their rod properly. So not only do you get a good rod and a decent real but you get real good line. If I wanted to get somebody to show me how to practice a few casts, could you guys do that? We can probably find somebody to take young back of the store and show you how.
