This FFA Week Thank an Ag Advisor

This week has been FFA week and like many of you, I’m a FFA alum. I know I probably don’t need to go through the many, many benefits of being involved in FFA — I’ll just name a few that I personally gained during my time wearing the blue jacket — public speaking, parliamentary procedure, and leadership skills.

Today, I would like highlight a critical piece in the FFA organization’s success and that is the many ag advisors who give so much to make their local FFA program possible and help students to achieve their goals and dreams.

Throughout our three Pacific Northwest states there are approximately 300 or so high schools that provide ag classes and the FFA program to students. Ag Advisors spend countless hours coaching and practicing with their students and teams to contests.

I know my ag advisor was supportive and always expected the best from his FFA members and we continual rose to his high expectations.

So if you are currently involved in FFA or have a son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter who is — why not take the time and give their advisors a big thank for ALL they do on be half of your student. I believe it is in part their passion and enthusiasm for the many, many opportunities that are available to FFA students that makes the program special and allow students to succeed.
