I live the in the north end of Boise and the other night the Crane Creek country club had to bring in a huge industrial pumping machine because it looked like Crane Creek was going to flood the indoor tennis courts. As disastrous as that could be, I was thrilled for the farm community. So I called up NRCS spokesperson Phil Morrisey to discuss the implications of the recent precipitation. "I looked at several of the sites mostly in central Idaho, our mountain measuring snowtell sites, a lot of them picked up 2 to 3 inches of moisture over the last few days. That's a pretty good amount compared to typical storms. Snowpack percentages were running in the 50 to 60% range are now between 80 and 85 so it has made quite an improvement at least and Payette and Boise and with the forecast for more wet weather over the next week, it is a really encouraging forecast. It looks like the Weiser basin must have gotten a lot of rainfall and that will help the fields.
