Restoring Life to Your Soil

Last week while at the Spokane Ag Expo, I visited with first time exhibiter WRT’s Joseph Witzke about his soil health products. He says that taking care of the soil is critical.?Witzike: “Obviously you have more soil on your land than anything else. Without soil you are not going to grow your crops - period. So it is really important to take care of it and thats what we are all about, our tagline is restoring life. When you think it about — restoring life to your soil. You need to take a soil report and if you haven’t done one it is really important. A lot of times there is just one limiting factor that can be taken care of so simply then your yields and quality will benefit greatly from just taking care of your soil.”?Following a soil report analysis, WRT has a customized approach and sits down with the individual and discuss what possible options for improvement may be. One plan never fits all — everything that WRT provides is customized to each individual field that they review. He says?Witzke: “We don’t only work with use the lines we sell, we also encourage farmers to use what they need. The product lines we do carry, one we do carry is Baicor liquid nutrients and they are really important for addressing specific nutrient needs at a specific time. We are trying to get what the plant needs and not any more or any less. Each life stage of the plant — whether it is focusing on growth or focusing on reproduction or maturing the fruit or seed — it is requiring different nutrients So it is really important to get the right nutrient at the right time.”
