China turns its back on a lot of corn.

China has refused a substantial shipment of GMO corn so I called Travis Jones of the Idaho Grain Producers Association: " Travis, 60,000 tons of U.S. corn was rejected by China over the holiday weekend after it tested positive for unapproved genetically engineered strains. it just seems to me as I listened to the news, we get wheat rejected by Asian markets such as China, Korea, are they just looking for trouble or what? I think they are just being careful for their consumers just like any of our other customers around the world. I think this is a small isolated incident where China rejected 60,000 tons but they normally import about 7,000,000 tons of corn from the United States. But they are important, they are number three in the world in corn imports from the United States so what is good for corn in a lot of cases is good for wheat and barley from the United States. So as far as Idaho, even though we don't represent corn, we are still very careful about watching what is going on in that market."
