A tall tale about catching a big one.

Boise police officer Tom Miotke Is a regular contributor to the show and has told us a couple of fun stories about Whitetail hunting. But Tom is a colorful guy and at one time wasn't landlocked. He loved to take his Zodiac out fishing in the Bay Area and now he tells us about quite the catch. "I came out of the Bay Area. I have been blessed by finding this little place, I call it Shangri-La, it is Boise, Idaho. However it does not have the ocean. I miss the coast. I grew up ocean fishing. As a younger man I had a Zodiac and I did a lot of fishing and scuba diving. Most people know of the Carmel-Monterey area and just north of that is Santa Cruz and in between it is a little area called Moss Landing. I used to take my little boat out there for the flounder, the halibut and the thresher shark. One day I had gone out by myself in my little 6 foot boat and I hooked into something that I knew was real big. That fish took me one hour and five minutes to land. It had been pulling my little dinghy around. By the time I was able to pull it up to the surface, there must have been six or seven boats sitting around watching me fight this beast. It turned out to be an 8 foot thresher shark. I was in a 6 foot dinghy. Well, there were three Italian guys watching me, having a couple of beers and enjoying the show." And the show gets much bigger and more hilarious tomorrow.
