Wheat Markets Down Again

I'm KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for August 30, 2013. Wheat futures favored a weaker tone throughout the day and posted a low-range close. From the floor of the CME Group, Joe Vaclavik shares his observations of Thursday's markets. Vaclavik: "Cattle in the feeder market here in Chicago were mostly higher. We're seeing a lot of strength in the cattle, especially in the deferred months which have been hovering around highs. The catalylst for this rally in the cattle was a few weeks ago, when Tyson -- the largest beef processor in the U.S. -- said it would stop accepting cattle that had been fed with a feed additive known as Zilmax. We've been able to hold those gains and add to them these last couple of weeks." Chicago December Wheat ended Thursday down 5 and 1/4 cents at 6-54 and 1/4. December corn ended the day up 3/4 of a cent at 4-81 and 1/2.??Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 5 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-30 and 1/4. White club wheat was down 5 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-40 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 pct protein prices were down 7 cents at mostly 8-09 and 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 pct protein prices were mixed down 2 and 1/2 cents to up 7 and 1/2 cents at mostly 8-47. ??October live cattle were up a nickel Thursday at 126-97 and half. October Feeder cattle were up 37 and half cents at 158 even. October class III milk was down 34 cents at 17-71.
