Looking For Meal Inspiration

Looking for Meal Inspiration? Potato Recipes to the Rescue.

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the U.S. Potato Update.

Each week, the United States Potato Board’s recipe email, arrives to subscribers’ inboxes providing a nutrition fun fact and a tasty new recipe idea to help busy consumers plan family meals.

USPB Public Relations Manager Meredith Myers explains how this program has really expanded since it began last July.

Myers: “We started out with about 2,500 subscribers -- so emails that we were sending it out to. We just got the news that we are at 9,600 subscribers at this point. So that is exciting news.”

This communication is proving its effectiveness as it has consistently outperformed industry standards as Myers shares more.

Myers: “Typically the industry standards place the average of open rates for this type of email around 15 to 20 percent. And if our overall open rate for the entire year is 30 percent we know we are double, twice the industry average. Then our overall click-through rate for the year is at 12.6 percent and the industry standards again for this are at 6 percent so we are at two times the industry standard so we are very excited about that.”
