Opportunity For Internship Within The Beef Industry
I’m Susan Allen on today’s Open Range, stay tuned because if you have or know of a college student majoring in ag that would love an internship within the beef industry you won’t want to miss this upcoming Open Range segment. The best known and largest group that works to advance the causes of ranchers in the United States is the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association known in the industry as NCBA. I received notice earlier this week that the NCBA government affairs office located in Washington D.C. is looking to hire public policy interns for this summer. Obviously they would like to find junior or senior undergraduate college students or graduate students majoring in agriculture and a quick glance of the requirements include excellent research, writing and communication skills, a minimum of a 3.0 gpa and a background in or working knowledge of the cattle or beef industry. Now as I understand it, this will be quite the opportunity for someone interested in public policy or politics because the interns will work closely with NCBA staff assisting on not only policy but communications and membership plus learn if selected interns will learn firsthand how lobbying and regulatory teams advance policies that are important for ranchers. The internship runs through May 29- August 17 those applying must be available for the whole duration . The deadline for applications is March 12and information is online at the National Cattlemen Beef Association website.
