2-16 FB Grange

A couple of weeks ago I got pretty worked up and went on a rant ( like that’s something new)  about the fact that the department of labor had actually proposed limiting the amount of time kids living on farms could work. That would mean that the government could actually come in to your farm and tell you, the farmer, that your kids were not allowed to work past a certain number of hours. In my mind that kind of government control could start a revolution… and should. Mercifully, somebody woke up and smelled the coffee. As an example, I received notification that the National Grange has recently and publicly applauded the Dept. of Labor for withdrawing their proposed regulations to alter child labor rules as they apply to children working in agriculture. National Grange President Ed Luttrell said the organization commends the decision because as written, the proposals would have had a negative impact on America's family farms and ranches. Regulations that prohibit youth from working on farms are counterproductive to the larger legacy of freedom.
