Idaho Cattle Association Commends Steadfast Leadership on Interior Appropriations Bill
The Idaho Cattle Association (ICA) applauds Congressman Mike Simpson for his hard work on the Interior Appropriations Bill for fiscal year 2012, which passed the Interior and Environment Subcommittee on July 7. Simpson, who is chairman of the committee, initiated significant spending cuts, altogether reducing the budget by $2.1 billion below last year’s levels.
In addition to reducing spending, a variety of provisions intended on controlling onerous regulations administered by federal bureaucracies were also included, which will help to encourage our nation’s economic recovery. Several of the provisions included directly impact Idaho’s cattle industry and Jessie Thompson Communications Coordinatorfor theIdaho Cattle Association explains: "There are multiple provisions regarding livestock grazing issues; assuring that farmers and ranchers have the ability to conduct and expand their businesses without being plagued by burdensome government regulations." “The cattle industry is in pressing need of responsible legislation like this,” says Wyatt Prescott, Executive Vice President of the ICA. “Cattle producers follow sound, responsible resource management practices to ensure that our natural resources will be around for future generations to enjoy. Many of the regulations the government has in place prove to be a hindrance to environmentally focused cattle producers and it’s time for the government to administer regulations more responsibly.” The Idaho Cattle Association deeply reveres Congressman Simpson’s leadership, as he is a champion for Idaho citizens.
