A four pack for Washington

A four pack for Washington

Washington Ag Today July 7, 2011 The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife reported this week it has confirmed the existence of a fourth wolf pack in the state. That’s based on DNA tests of a lactating female wolf caught in Kittitas County. Game officials are referring to the new pack as the Teanaway Pack.

Before this latest confirmation officials estimated Washington’ wolf population at 25.

The other packs in the state are the Lookout Pack in Okanogan and Chelan counties and the Diamond and Salmo packs in Pend Oreille County.

Fish and Wildlife Department Director Phil Anderson says the return of wolves highlights the need to continue efforts to finalize a state wolf conservation and management plan that will establish state recovery objectives and describes options for addressing wolf-livestock and wolf-ungulate management issues. A draft plan is to be presented to the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission next month.

Now this from Stockland Livestock:

This is Jack McQuinness with Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. We’ll be back in business on July 11th for the regular cattle sale and we’ll also have a special feeder sale on July 18th. Keep in mind we sell cattle here every Monday. We sell our small animals; sheep, goats and what have you on the 4th Tuesday of every month and we’re looking forward to that. Anyway a regular cattle sale coming up on Monday July 11th and a big, special feeder sale on Monday, July 18th. That’s all here at Stockland Livestock here in Davenport, thanks for listening.

Thanks Jack.
