6-16 FB Cattle Tornado

6-16 FB Cattle Tornado

Has the EPA  gone over-the-top with their dust regulations? I know the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association would think so, how about you?

The EPA is trying to impose new regulations regarding the amount of dust that will be allowed as it relates to agricultural pursuits such as raising cattle and farming. When I think about this I ask myself don’t we have better things to do than worry about the dust that cattle kicked up? I asked the NCBA’s chief environmental Council Tamara Thies if a tornado wouldn’t kick up more dust than 1 million cattle. Here is her answer: “You would raise a lot more dust in a tornado. But absolutely the EPA wants to regulate dust kicked up by cattle, as well as pickups driving down dirt roads, whether you’re tilling your fields, harvesting your crops, and yes, the irony with the EPA is that they try and address one issue in one silo within the agency, for example dust, but then they exacerbate problems in another issue which could include water and never the two shall meet to come up with a reasonable solution to an issue. There are so many examples like that within that agency that it creates huge burdens for all the industrial sectors.
