6-1 IAN Wet Wheat 2

Continuing with the plight of a farmer who is basically locked out of his farm because of late wet weather and mud in the fields that prevents him from getting in his machinery in order to plant. I’m David Sparks.

Robert Blair has a plan for his farm this season and you might be surprised by it.I am not going to plant anything. Here is the trade-off. If I plant a crop late in the season, those acres affect my proven yield. If I don’t plant a crop it does not affect my APH, 0 acres planted. Basically it does not get held against you. If that makes sense. You get a free pass for a year. The scenario is that now your revenue is reduced. That is what you are fighting. How many other farmers do you think are taking this option? I haven’t been able to get out and see but it depends on the area. The area, the size, rainfall and things like that. You are seeing it all away from the Worley area down to South East Idaho. I am in a position where there are places that I cannot even get into my fields because you have wet spots in draws and you can’t even get through them. I have one field where I have to go through our neighbor’s and I was hoping it would dry up but I can not even get around it to spray the weeds down.
