Farm Camp

Farm Camp

School has been out for summer vacation for the last week or more, and most parents are starting to look like deer caught in the headlights. Farm camp would be the perfect solution to the "I'm bored" attitude that's starting to set in right about now. Camp dates usually start the first of July and have rotating sessions through August. Farm camp has something for children of all ages and is a safe and educational as well as fun summer experience that includes growing, harvesting and eating the food they serve at camp, caring for farm animals, and farm chores that turn out to be more fun than they are work. What kid doesn't like to get a little dirty? Children also learn about the nature around them, from bugs crawling in the dirt and decomposition to learning how tadpoles turn into frogs. Teens acquire a deeper understanding of themselves, their communities, and the fact that how we treat the land and animals in our care affects not only ourselves but the world. Given the opportunity, most children would rather experience farm camp than spend the summer playing video games or watching T.V. For that matter, most adults would enjoy the opportunity to "return" to summer camp!
