Avibrom to fight Salmonella

 The Unites States Agriculture Department has another worry on its hands – evidence suggests that the salmonella bacteria usually present in eggs has now been able spread to include chicken meat.

Of the various kinds of salmonella, the most common one has now mutated into a strain, causing it to occur more frequently in both, eggs and chicken meat. Experts suggest that now this  strain of salmonella can work from inside the ovaries of hens, spreading the bacteria to the egg even prior to the shell being formed. ?Elanco Food Solutions has introduced its first food-safety product for the poultry industry. AviBrom™ is a post-harvest carcass rinse that reduces Salmonella pathogens during processing.

Here’s spokeperson David Cobb: I can’t talk anything off label. The label is for salmonella that’s what I need to stay with but it’s for treating salmonella in poultry.”
