Huskie and chem fallow

Huskie and chem fallow

Farm and Ranch December 30, 2009 If you are using chem fallow and need something to add to your Roundup Bayer CropScience says it has an answer. Bayer representative Al Sartini says it is Huskie herbicide.

Sartini: “That is kind of an interesting area for us. We learned in probably our last year of testing before bringing it to market that there was a possibility of Huskie helping out Roundup in the chem fallow area. And what we have now shown in the last two years of commercial application is that if we get a grower that is having trouble controlling some of the broadleaf weeds in his fallow with Roundup, if he will put in Huskie at 11 to 13 ounces in the June time period when things are still fairly actively growing and susceptible, when tank mixes that with his Roundup he cleans up those broadleaf weeds that he has not been getting control of with just the Roundup application.”

And adding something to the Roundup is good herbicide resistance management.

Sartini: “Absolutely. Different mode of action helps with management of resistance weed populations. You bet.”

This will be the third year for Huskie herbicide which Sartini estimates was used on about one million acres in the Pacific Northwest last year.

Sartini: “We might get a little more competitive with the price this year if things work out right. And I think we are going to see to continue to grow again in the number of acres that we saw in the last two years.”
