04/03/08 Information meetings for CSP sign-up

Washington Ag April 3, 2008 Public meetings have been scheduled for farmers, ranchers and landowners in the Lower Snake-Tucannon watershed regarding the upcoming sign-up for the Conservation Security Program. That watershed covers a portion of Asotin, Columbia, Garfield and Whitman counties, so Ed Teel, Natural Resources Conservation District Conservationist says one of the first things a person may want to do is check a map at the state NRCS website. Teel: "And you can find that www.washington.nrcs.usda.gov and that website under programs, under Conservation Security Program you will find a detailed map that will show the watershed boundaries." If you are in, or think you in the Lower Snake-Tucannon watershed boundaries, Teel says you should attend one of the four meetings that will be held prior to the April 18th to May 16th sign up. Teel: "The workbooks will be available and we will try and outline what the growers, the participants need to do to fill out the workbook." The public meetings, which all start at 6:30 p.m. are in Colfax April 14th at the Community Center, in Dayton April 15th at the fairgrounds Youth Building, in Pomeroy April 16th at the High School and in Clarkston on the 17th at the USDA Service Center. I'm Bob Hoff.
