The Idaho Oilseed Conference will be held February 27th in Moscow to help farmers and policy makers get up to date on current science and trends. University of Idaho professor Donn Thill says there are lots of reasons why producers should spend the day at the conference.
THILL "We're going to cover an awful lot of information on production and pest management in oil seed crops. We're going to go over breeding genetics and cultivar development which is always of interest to producers and that's number two and there's going to be a session on biodiesel which I think is on everyone's mind."
A fourth reason would be the session on new oil seed crops and product development. There is information about camelina and seed meal for alternative uses to add value to the product. Thill says several top notch oilseed experts will be there too.
THILL "For example Jack Brown and several of his team which are involved in breeding genetics and cultivar development. John Van Gerpen who's an internationally known expert on biodiesel. Perry Miller and Chengci Chen from Montana State."
Registration fee is 30 dollars and there are seats still available by contracting the U of I.
